NUTs Anniversary

The New Untouchables started November 1997; the Britpop music movement was at its apex and people who had become interested in our music and culture through this very modern genre because of the undeniable references. The time was just right for a new surge of Mods and 1960s fans and The New Untouchables were there to encourage them with newsletters, club nights, festivals and weekenders, scooter runs, record fairs, markets and the relatively new phenomenon the internet. New Untouchables have never been afraid to try new ventures. Locations have changed most notably from Isle of Wight to Brighton August bank holiday. In recent years some of the biggest underground acts of the last 5 decades like The Sonics first ever show outside the native USA in 2008, Arthur Lee & Love in 2005, Stax Revue with Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn and Eddie Floyd in 2011 have performed for us. However NUTS have encouraged and supported many new bands and DJs for over the last decade.

In 2009 a bestselling book entitled ‘I’m One-21st Century Mod’s was released by Prestel. The award winning photographer Horst R Friedrichs spent a decade attending NUTS events all over the UK and his patience paid of with exhibitions and recognition from all round the world. As a thanks to all those who have been involved down the years and a big thanks to the current team Pip! Pip!, Ellie, Dave and the Lighthouse Projections Crew we host a party.
